1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

Andor. Had never read a fic in my life, let alone written one, until this show set my brain on fire and then I subsequently watched Rogue One and the Rebelcaptain brainrot took hold with a vengeance. I was like NEED MORE OF THESE CHARACTERS IMMEDIATELY AND ALSO AN ALTERNATE ENDING TO R1 and that’s when I remembered that fanfiction exists! Then, I liked the fics I was reading so much that I decided to write one myself!

That said, I always made up stories as a kid, often in my head at night to fall asleep, and often with my favorite existing characters.

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

Only Andor/Rogue One!

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

1 year bb!

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

Read way more. When I say I check the Cassian Andor tag on AO3 every day…

5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?

By letting myself read and write fanfiction at all, and posting my writing on the interwebs for strangers to read. What joy.

6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Torture 😬 always feel sketch Googling that

7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?

Literally any comment. And if the person liked what they read, even better!

One comment I always remember and hold dear to my heart is: “Take all the kudos. It’s a waterfall of kudos.” 🥹

8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

I don’t think Cassian whump is fringe within the fandom, but it’s certainly fringe within the world.

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

Heist/mission fics that are heavy on the plot.

Characters’ feelings and inner monologues.

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

Laptop, often in bed, after work & on weekends, Microsoft Word.

Recently wrote some on a long train ride! That was fun.

12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

Totally got cold feet now that I’m at the whumpiest part of my current WIP. Would love to get through that and finish it.

I love the Rogue One universe of SW. 8 yrs after the movie, I still wish that all (or at least some of them) survived and we'd gotten a limited R1 series covering their adventures from Scariff to the destruction of the 2nd Death Star.

“Think fast,” Tyler said, seconds before a tennis ball was flying at your face. To anyone else, Tyler’s antics might have been an annoyance, but you had known him long enough to grow used to it. You reached up and caught the ball before it smashed into your nose. Tyler sighed, “I’ll catch you off guard one of these times.”

You were currently sitting in Tyler’s dressing room, hanging out with him before tonight’s show. It wasn’t often that you had the chance to do so, but since they were playing in your shared hometown of Columbus, Ohio, you had managed to get the night off work so you could join them.

“It’s been four years and you’ve never caught me off guard once, what makes you think it will happen now?”

“I’ll find a way. Maybe I can distract you with my good looks.”

You laughed and playfully threw the ball at Tyler. He jumped out of the way before grabbing his white button down from the clothing rack. The tennis ball hit the wall with a dull thud and rolled along the floor.

Tyler laid the shirt out on the table and turned so that his back was to you. You watched as he stripped off his tank top and tossed it aside, trading it out for the button down. He hummed quietly as he worked away on the buttons.

“You got pretty quiet,” Tyler said. “Everything ok?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just enjoying the view.”

Tyler looked at you over his shoulder, the smile and blush on his cheeks clearly visible. You bit down on your lip and avoided his gaze.

You and Tyler had always had a weird relationship. Blatant flirting had been a staple of your relationship since day one, but there had never been any sort of label on it aside from “best friend”. Sometimes you entertained the thought of a relationship with him, but somewhere along the way the idea always seemed to unravel. There was something that wouldn’t work, someone who wasn’t ready, a tour that would keep you apart for too long.

So this is what you had.

“Can I ask you a question?” you filled the silence that had formed.

Tyler finished the last button of his shirt and turned around, his painted hands fiddling idly with the collar.

“Sure.”

“What do you consider me?”

Tyler’s eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean?”

“Like… us. Who am I to you?”

You watched as Tyler swallowed hard. His hand moved from his collar up and around his neck, rubbing at the back of it. He pressed his lips firmly together before releasing them again.

“Who do you want to be?”

“I’m asking you.”

Tyler rolled his shoulders, shifting his eyes around the room. You had only meant it to be an innocent question, but Tyler’s reaction made it clear that it was more than that. Maybe it should have been left unsaid.

“You’re my friend,” he finally answered. “My best friend.”

You hesitated, thinking over the next words to come out of your mouth. There wasn’t much time before Tyler would have to be onstage and you didn’t want to leave him mulling over some half-finished discussion about the nature of your relationship.

“Is that all?”

“I go back to my original question,” Tyler said. “Who do you want to be?”

That seemed to be the million dollar question.

“Tyler! Five minutes until we’re on stage!”

Tyler reached his hands into his hair, grabbing at the strands with his fingers. His eyes squeezed shut, closing out the world around him. You stood up and closed the space between the two of you, gently grabbing his wrists and pulling them down towards you.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring this up right before you went on stage. I thought we had more time.”

“It’s not you,” he shook his head. “There’s just… a lot of questions.”

“We can talk about them after the show. You need to focus right now.”

“You’re right.”

Tyler started to reach for his tie, but you caught his hand. “I’ve got it.”

He watched as you carefully flipped up his collar and slid the tie around his neck. Tyler was usually very particular about how his tie was done so that it was able to be undone easily during quick changes, though he had confessed to you once that you were the only person who was able to do it better than him. You could see him biting back a smile as you smoothed his collar back out.

“I’ll make you a promise,” you said as he grabbed his jacket from where it was thrown over the back of a nearby chair. “By the time you finish the show tonight, I’ll have an answer to your question.”

“I’ll have an answer too.”

You shook your head, “If you’re not careful, you’re going to end up confessing your true feelings to the arena instead of singing song lyrics.”

“Ok, no answer then.”

“Just focus on the show.”

“I can do that.”

You leaned towards Tyler and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. He smiled and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into his chest. He smelled like a mix of laundry detergent and cologne.

“Alright, if I don’t get out there I’m going to get yelled at,” Tyler said, finally releasing you.

“You’ve got this, Ty.”

“And so do you,” he grinned.

After a quick fist bump, Tyler grabbed his mask and pulled it on while he ran out of the room. You hung back for a moment, not wanting to get caught up in the chaos of last minute changes and preparations. Once the show had started and things had settled down, you would take your place to the side of the stage to watch the show.

And think of your answer to Tyler’s question.

Tyler was beaming as he made his way off stage, heading straight in your direction. As soon as he was close enough, he threw a sweaty arm around your shoulders and pulled you into his side. You laughed and made a show of trying to push him away, even though you were enjoying being close to him.

“What did you think of the show?” he asked, grabbing a water bottle with his free hand. He reached all the way around you to unscrew the cap.

“I have to admit, I was kind of distracted the whole time.”

“By my good looks?”

“No.”

“My beautiful voice?”

“No.”

“By Josh?”

“No,” you laughed. “I was thinking.”

Tyler nodded as he chugged his water. You hadn’t initially realized that he was leading you back to his dressing room until your dark surroundings changed into the white concrete walls of the backstage hallways. Your heart started to pound in your chest as you realized the once-distant conversation was quickly becoming a reality.

Tyler removed his arm from around you once you reached the dressing room, instead moving to grab a towel to wipe away some of his sweat. You took a hesitant seat on the couch, not quite relaxing back into it.

“Whenever you’re ready,” Tyler said, rubbing the towel along his forehead. “Let me have it.”

You clasped your hands, nervously rubbing your thumb along the side of your finger. The answer was so clear in your head, but you were unsure of how Tyler would react when you finally said. It was a feeling that you had never expressed out loud before, not even to yourself. It had stayed buried deep inside your heart.

“I want us to be more than friends.”

Tyler’s eyebrows raised and he slowly dropped the towel away from his forehead. You started to rub at your finger harder, patiently - or rather, impatiently - waiting for his answer.

“You do?”

“Mhmm.”

Tyler bit down on his lower lip, shifting his gaze away from yours.

“You aren’t scared?”

“Scared of what?”

“That we might,” Tyler paused, rubbing a hand along his forehead, “that we might ruin what we already have.”

Your eyebrows furrowed, “What do you mean?”

“You mean so much to me, Y/N, and I’m terrified of messing that up. What if we do this for real and then it all goes down in flames? Am I just going to lose you forever then? The thought of it just…” He shook his head.

“But who’s to say that something won’t happen even if we aren’t dating? The future is unpredictable and relationships can change in an instant. I don’t think it’s fair to either of us to throw away a chance at a great relationship just because we’re afraid that we might lose one another in the process.”

Tyler spoke softly, “I don’t want you just to be a memory. I want you to be here, in my life, forever.”

“I will, Ty. That’s a promise.”

Tyler was on the couch next to you in an instant, wrapping a hand around the back of your neck and pulling your lips to his. You caught yourself with his t-shirt, clutching it in your hand so that you could hold him close. His lips were soft and tasted faintly of sweat, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.

“I love you,” Tyler whispered into the space between your lips.

“I love you too.”

With that, he pulled you into another kiss and held you close. It was the first of many happy memories.

A/N: Guess who’s back and betta than eva! (Sorry, I had to.) I don’t know about better than ever, but I am back with a new fic - my first for Bandom Bingo! I also have jury duty this week, which I’m hoping will allow for lots of writing time, since I’m allowed to have my laptop when I’m in the assembly room. Hope everyone is doing well, enjoy this little fic! 

It happened on a Friday. They were sitting on Y/N’s front porch after hanging out with some friends, waiting for their energy to wind down enough to want to sleep. Tyler was watching her, but her mind was a million miles away. 

“What are you thinking?” he asked, nudging her with his elbow. 

Y/N’s attention snapped back to home. “The ocean. I know there are places where the ocean is chilly, but in my mind, it’s always warm. The sun is always shining, and everything is peaceful and content.”

“What about hurricanes?” Tyler countered. 

She laughed and his heart beat faster. “Okay, so sometimes it’s cold and sometimes it’s chaotic. Things here have felt so insane lately. Running isn’t the answer, but maybe I’m not thinking of running. Maybe I’m thinking of starting over.”

Tyler couldn’t fault her for that. Her world had been turned upside down in the last few months. She had found a new normal, and he hadn’t left her side once during the process, but that didn’t mean the trouble was forgotten. Tyler’s mind was dark and chaotic at times, too. Their bond had strengthened over an abundance of big life questions and a lack of a healthy amount of sleep. 

“I can’t wait for the next thing to start,” Tyler sighed, leaning back on his hands and imagining all the shows he and Josh had scheduled to play over the next few months. “It’s all right here, but I wouldn’t mind a distraction for a while.”

“You and me both,” Y/N responded quietly. 

He thought about asking her to come along, and that was the moment Tyler realized he loved her. 

A week later, she rushed up the stairs to his room where he was playing silly melodies on the keyboard near the window. She held up an airplane ticket in front of him; Tyler set his headphones to the side and powered off the keyboard. 

“Boston? I thought you wanted warmth and the ocean and stuff?”

Y/N looked down at the ticket and shrugged. “I decided to buy a ticket to somewhere and Boston was the first place that came to mind. So that’s what I decided to do.”

Tyler held his hand out for the ticket, a smile pasted on his face. He wanted to be excited for her. He read over the words on the ticket, raising his brow when he saw a certain condition on the ticket. 

“One-way, huh?”

“Don’t lecture me like my parents did, all right? What if I can’t get back, blah, blah, blah. What if I don’t want to come back? It sucks here! Everything is falling apart, everything’s been falling apart! I hate it! I hate it here!”

Y/N had gone from excited and happy to scared and upset faster than Tyler could keep up with. One minute she was practically jumping up and down with joy and the next she was crying and screaming. 

“Hey, I wasn’t going to say any of that,” Tyler assured, tossing the ticket onto the keyboard and pulling her against his chest. He held her tight around the shoulders, but her arms stayed straight at her sides. “I was surprised, is all. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, Y/N/N. I’m on your side in this. I’m always on your side.”

“I know,” she whispered, sniffling herself back into some state of composed. 

Though she seemed okay, Tyler continued to hold her. He rocked her gently back and forth until, finally, she worked her arms up between them, threw her arms around his neck, and held on for dear life. 

They were both set to leave on a Tuesday. Funny, Tyler thought to himself, how life sometimes came full circle that way. He planned to spend Monday with his family for the most part, so if he was going to do this, it had to be today. 

Maybe there wasn’t a point in telling her that he loved her. He had one foot out of Columbus for a short time, and she had no idea if or when she was going to come back. Tyler knew that part of him thought that confessing to her would give her a reason to come back. Really though, he knew that if he didn’t tell her how he felt, he would regret it for the rest of his life. 

So, here he was after a post-church lunch with his family, knocking on her front door. He chewed on his thumbnail while he waited for someone to let him in the house, anxiety and determination battling it out within him. Fortunately, determination was still winning out. 

“Hey, Tyler,” her father greeted, holding the screen door open, “c’mon in. Y/N’s downstairs, I think.”

“Thanks,” Tyler replied, smiling politely before heading for the familiar staircase. 

Y/N was laid out on the couch, fast asleep. She was dressed in one of her favorite dresses, one she reserved only for church specifically because it was one of her favorites. Tyler never quite understood her logic behind that, but he didn’t pretend to understand much about dresses, anyway. 

He took a seat next to her, running his fingers lightly through her hair. She didn’t move. He completed the gesture a couple more times, then put his hand back in his lap. 

“Keep doing that,” she mumbled, a sleepy smile pulling at her lips. 

Tyler smiled, too. He waited for her to stretch and sit up, be able to keep her eyes open. She took the throw blanket form the back of the couch and pulled it over her legs, then pulled her knees up to her chest. 

“Did we have plans and I forgot?” Y/N asked him. 

“No, no, I came by uninvited,” Tyler admitted. “I wanted to talk to you.”

Her face fell. “Is everything all right?”

Tyler nodded emphatically and took her hands in his. “Yes, everything is great. It’s just — you’re leaving. And I’m leaving. And I’m coming back but you don’t know if you are … anyway. I don’t know why I feel like I need to say any of this, except for selfish reasons, I guess.”

He paused there, and Y/N nodded. “Okay, so … tell me?”

Tyler took a deep breath. “I love you. I — I had this whole speech that I repeated, like, five times on the way over, but now all I can do is say that. I wanted you to know, I guess.”

She stared at him for a long time. Long enough that Tyler let go of her hands and stood, ready to apologize and explain himself. Y/N threw the blanket off of her legs and stood too, grabbing for his hands as she went up on tiptoe to press a soft kiss to his lips. 

“I love you too, Ty.”

Tyler allowed himself a moment of shock before twirling her off the floor and kissing her again. 

With a tour in full swing for Tyler, and Y/N living life in Boston, staying in touch wasn’t always easy. They called when they could, texted at least once a day. But, Tyler’s favorite part of their communications was the postcards that would sometimes arrive before him at the hotel where they were staying. Today when they checked in, the clerk handed him a key and a postcard with the Boston skyline depicted on the front — there was always some sort of landmark on the postcard. He waited until they got to the hotel room and he could lean back against the pillows and read about her latest adventure to flip the postcard over; he was surprised to see only a much shorter message than he expected. The postcard was dated from the Sunday prior. 

Last night, I dreamed about hugging you. This morning, I bought another one-way ticket. To Columbus.

been seeing this ask set float around this week and secretly hoping someone would tag me because it's an even 100 and i think that's neat. Though it should be up to 102 within the next few days.

(a handful of those are under a pseud i played with in my Justified days though so I'm not sure it comes up as 100 to anyone else)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Presently having a Hamilton revival, but there's some vague Andor schemes brewing, and it's never far from my mind. Got some MCU kicking around, though I have a very hard time imagining that one making a comeback at this point. Some Justified I periodically long to revisit.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Four of them are from Falcon & the Winter Soldier - Daybreak, Longing, Nine, and Benign coming in at 1, 2, 4, and 5. #3 is a Fantastic Beasts fic called Pick Up and Start Over

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, though I can be forgetful if my brain is stuck in another fic or fandom. But I try to express thanks for kind words, and I fucking love chatting about the nonsense that comes out of my brain.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Mmm...maybe Freight Car from MCU/FATWS? It's my stubborn attempt to pry closure out of Endgame.

Maybe Remember from Andor/R1 which is Draven POV after Rogue One and paired with Stone & Sky which is Kleya POV and together kind of deal with the burden that is surviving.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'll say Thinking Past Tomorrow from the Hamilton Conway Cabal 'verse. One of the few times I think I've put a 'fluff' tag on a fic. XD

Oh and I'll also shoutout a Justified fic, Lost & Found.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not in a long time and not to my recollection on AO3. But I've been posting fanfiction on the interwebs since, uh *checks watch* 2003 or something, so I've certainly seen my fair share.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

*glances awkwardly at current WIP I should be writing instead of doing this*

Ha. I do, however - it's a very certain sort of headspace that doesn't necessarily cycle around often. But once every 12-18 months or so I'll conjure something horribly filthy and then retreat back to my usual habits lol.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I don't think I've ever done one?

OH wait edit: it's not exactly a crossover but certain friends who know who they are got me on the Star Trek fusion kick with Hamilton, so it's like. A Starfleet AU? But not with actual Trek characters so I'm not sure I'd call it a crossover exactly.

Not to my knowledge.

Nope

I have! It's been a while. Back in my old EU star wars days and not on AO3. Generally though my creative process doesn't share well with others.

Ahh... hm. That's a tricky one, I'm not necessarily the most ship-minded person, and I don't tend to latch decisively on to one necessarily, I'm happy to play with different dynamics or write gen fic. I think I tend towards themes more than pairs.

Shout-out to Stucky for the sheer volume of content that helped suck me into the MCU in the months ahead of CA:CW coming out.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I have been pretty good about not leaving things dangling since moving to AO3 a decade ago. There's one incomplete MCU AU fic that I'll regret but can't really imagine finding the ending for. Lost my rhythm with it and then started second-guessing myself on it and never recovered.

If I had to pick one, it'd be an old EU Star Wars fic that was on FFnet and fizzled out because of both life (moved, had a kid, etc) and Disney imploding the EU.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Plots of some complexity, I think (I hope lol). I liken it to building a puzzle. For Andor, I think The Thing Itself is the best example of this, in which I stubbornly pried every conceivably crumb of detail from the show to build a Sipo/Mimban backstory. For Hamilton, the big fics in Conway Cabal 'verse.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Just like... setting the scene? Description? Having characters that aren't just feature-less figures existing in a void??

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I do it a little with French in Hamilton only because I had enough years in school I'm somewhat confident I'm not making a total fool of myself.

I'll happily invent dialogue/words for made-up Star Wars languages though.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Prrrrobably What Comes Next for Hamilton Conway Cabal 'verse. It's a few fics into a series and really tugs at various established characters/conflicts/so on to build the plot.

it's all old mortal kombat fic; the top two have 323 and 199 respectively (and the #1 is so successful because the ship got big after the latest MK game; given that I'd essentially made it up at the time of writing, I got lucky lmao). the others are double digit kudos :/

ALWAYS, at least for stargate fic. love to talk about the brainrot and make friends

probably this one, an installment of a rush/ba'al AU where ba'al dies for a while there. kind of a way to deal with grief about cliff simon too. hurts sometimes

I don't think I have any that are legitimately happy endings and not bittersweet, but probably this one for SGU week, in which the crew actually gets to go home (and rush eventually finally realizes they don't hate him)

not really. I figure if I'm putting in enough effort to cross something over and fuse the concepts, at that point I may as well write an original story instead (and often do)
